Why They Celebrate Halloween
Why they Celebrate Halloween is editorial piece that explores the origin and history of the holiday, (celebrated every 31st October) inspired by curiosity I developed my year in the United States during the holiday. While most holidays have a long deep rooted history, that makes them special and significant everything around me seemed to taken over by overly decorated store fronts and huge sales on candy and slutty halloween costumes.
My research led me the fascinating history and cultural references of the the holiday which quite evidently had been lost along the ages and transformed itself into a commercial holiday like a lot of other festivals today. The editorial piece through design is a take on the old and new, and an attempt to comment on how commercialism overlaps and erodes our history and culture, and why we must preserve and educate future generations.
